Day 1: Arrival in Georgetown

Arrive at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Guyana where our guide will greet you and escort you to Georgetown, the capital city and chief port of Guyana, which is situated on the right bank of the estuary of the Demerara River. This site was originally chosen as a fort to guard the early Dutch settlements of the river.

As you arrive at the hotel you?ll have a chance to relax, settle in your room.

Day 2: Arrive at Baganara Island Resort & Parrot Island

After an early breakfast, our car will take you at 11am to the Roed-en- Rust stelling where you?ll then take a scenic boat ride down the majestic Essequibo River to the next stop on your adventure, Baganara Island Resort.

On arrival at Baganara Island, you?ll be greeted by our friendly staff with an ice cold lemonade and shown to your room. You?ll then have the opportunity to explore the island.

After you have enjoyed our delicious buffet lunch, you will be invited to choose from a variety of activities like kayaking, fishing, table tennis or volleyball to name a few or you can just relax in a hammock with a good book. The afternoon can be as relaxing or adventurous as you decide.

Then in the afternoon around 5pm, take a peaceful boat ride up the mighty Essequibo River to Parrot Island. Located just a few miles (15 minutes by boat) from Baganara on the Eastern bank of the Essequibo River, Parrot Island is an uninhabited island with approximately 200ft of natural vegetation and a beautiful sand beach that stretches about 2 miles when the tide is low. It is known as a home to many birds, but predominantly the parrots that go there at sunset to roost.

In the evening you?ll experience our famous Baganara Island cuisine under our Gazebo overlooking the river.

Day 3: Nature Trail & Marshall Falls

On this morning around 6am, you will have a chance to explore the Nature Trail where a guide will walk you through the mildly challenging terrain as you look for birds and wild life and discover nature at its best in unspoiled surroundings.

After breakfast, around 9am take a trip up to Marshall Falls where a nature?s lover paradise awaits you. A 20 minute hike will take you to the waterfall where you?ll have a chance to swim and cool off and explore the surrounding area.

After lunch, you can lounge on the beach, relax in a hammock, kayak or paddle board.

In the evening, you?ll enjoy a bonfire dinner on the beach under the stars as you feel the cool breeze and hear the soft waves roll in.

Day 4: Depart Baganara Island Resort & Tour of the City

After breakfast you?ll depart Baganara around 9am to head back to Georgetown. After lunch your tour of the city will start. On this adventure you?ll have the chance to see the breathtaking Victorian Style architecture of Georgetown?s past. You can almost envision the colonial people walking the streets, going about their daily business, as if it was another world.

You?ll see our famous Parliament Buildings where our national assembly sits, the beautiful City Hall which houses the office of the Mayor, the residences of the Head of State and his Prime Minister and a myriad of other interesting sites that give our Garden City its intrigue and character.

Our tour guide will take you to many places of interest, which includes the enigmatic Stabroek Market, which sells everything from colourful, tropical fruits and vegetables to gold and diamond jewelry; the majestic St. George?s Cathedral which at a height of 43.5m is among the tallest wooden buildings in the world and the Botanical Gardens which truly captures Georgetown?s essence as the garden city with its beautiful flora and exotic birds and animals.

You will also be given the opportunity to shop for souvenirs, craft, and jewelry, or any other trinkets that catch your eye.

The tour will end at one of our local restaurants that will give you a chance to experience Guyanese cuisine at its best and cool off with an ice cold beverage.

Day 5: Kaieteur Falls & Orinduik Falls

After a late breakfast, transfer via road to the Eugene. F. Correia International Airport.

Depart the Airport via a chartered Trans Guyana Airways flight which departs at 10:00 am to your destination, Kaieteur Falls.

The flight is approximately (1) hour to your destination; the majestic Kaieteur Falls which is the ?largest single drop" waterfall in the world and is about five times higher than Niagara Falls.

At Kaieteur, a guide will take you through the paces as you move along the trails to the falls. This rainforest trek will allow you to take in the unique flora and fauna, which exists in abundance.

After your two hour tour of Kaieteur which includes a delicious lunch, you will embark on a thirty minute flight to Orinduik.

Located on the Guyana-Brazil border, Orinduik Falls is where the Ireng River thunders over steps and terraces solid jasper. With a backdrop of rolling grass-covered hills of the Pakaraima mountain range, this is truly one of the most beautiful locations in Guyana.

The return flight departs after your tour of two hours at Orinduik and closes with an aerial tour of Georgetown.

In the evening you?ll have the chance to enjoy the city?s active night life. Whether it?s a live band by the hotel?s poolside with the family or a night at the city?s most popular bar with friends there?s something exciting for every age.

Day 6: Arrive at Iwokrama River Lodge

After a very early breakfast you?ll leave the hotel around 6am to get to check in at Eugene F. Correia International Airport for your 7:30am Flight to Lethem through Eugene F. Correia International Airport. Upon arrival at Lethem at around 8:30am, you will be met by our tour guide and transferred via Land Rover to the Pakaraima Mountain Inn for lunch before departing for Iwokrama River Lodge. The journey from Lethem to Pakaraima Mountain Inn is approximately 2 hours and from Pakaraima Mountrain Inn to Iwokrama is 2 hours depending on the condition of the road.

On arrival at the Iwokrama River Lodge you?ll be shown to your cabin where you?ll have a chance to settle in and explore the resort.

Spend a relaxing evening enjoying dinner in the Fred Allicock Building overlooking the scenic vistas of the Essequibo River.

Day 7: Turtle Mountain & Rapids/Petroglyphs

After breakfast you will leave the Iwokrama River Lodge for a 30 minute boat ride to the foot of Turtle Mountain for a mildly challenging hike to its summit at 290m.This hike takes about 1-1.5 hours but the breathtaking views are more than worth the effort. Turtle Mountain provides a gorgeous view of the top of the rainforest canopy: Visitors will gaze upon several mountain ranges, the dense emerald jungle and the mighty Essequibo River. The summit also offers an opportunity to see several species of monkey including the Red Howler, the Black Spider and the Wedge Capuchin.

After lunch at the Iwokrama River Lodge you?ll visit the Kurupucari Falls to see the Amerindian Petroglyphs. These stunning works of art are estimated to be over 6,000 years old and best seen during low water season, then visit the small Amerindian community of Fair View.

Return late afternoon to the River Lodge and for a relaxing evening and delicious dinner in this jungle oasis.

Day 8: Indian House Boat Trip, Canopy Walkway & Depart Iwokrama River Lodge

At dawn you can take an early morning boat trip round Indian House Island. Keep an eye out for the butterflies, snakes and macaws as they come out to have "breakfast" on the edge of the island. This early morning trip also gives you a chance to hear the dawn songs of the different kinds of birds like the Marbled Wood-Quail, the Band-rumped Swift, the White-banded and the Black-collared Swallows, and many more!

After breakfast you will leave the River Lodge and continue south-west along the Iwokrama Road to the Atta Rainforest Lodge and Iwokrama Canopy Walkway. If you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of the elusive Jaguar, South America’s largest cat.

The 154 meters (505 ft.) state-of- the-art Iwokrama Canopy Walkway offers a totally unique experience in the region and envelopes you in the jungle's mid-level canopy through a series of suspension bridges and decks from heights of up to 30 meters (98 ft.). You'll have the chance to see birds like the Green Aracari, Scarlet Macaw, Guiana Toucanette or Channel-bill Toucan. Red Howler Monkeys may also be observed. You can check out the epiphytes such orchids and bromeliads, and look for the amazing parasitic Ficus plant as it engulfs another tree. There is also the Greenheart Tree, the Waramadan (endemic in Guyana only to the Iwokrama Forest) and the poisonous Aromata!

At Iwokrama, you’ll enjoy a local lunch before departing for Lethem for your flight via Trans Guyana Airways’ scheduled flight to the Eugene. F. Correia International Airport.

Upon arrival at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport you will be transferred via road to your hotel.

Day 9: Departure

You will be transferred to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport for your return flight back home.
