This is an Island located to the North West of Trinidad, it is 3.642 km squared (900 acres) or 5 miles from Trinidad. It is one of the Bocas Islands which lie in the Bocas del Dragon (Dragons' Mouth) between Trinidad and Venezuela. Chacachacare is the westernmost of the Bocas Islands which belongs to Trinidad and Tobago.
To access this island u need to sail, it takes half an hour by motor boat, however there are no amenities, so you must take along everything you need by way of water and food. This island is a lovely get away with its blissful silence and perfumed breeze of the wild orchids and the 40 varieties of flora d fauna not found anywhere else in Trinidad.
At night on this island, noises can be heard in the bushes from squirrels moving along the mango trees or the crack and crunch of giant iguanas looking for food. The only humans usually there are lighthouse keepers on shift atop an 800 feet glass eerie which stands above the Gulf of Paria, one of the most breathtaking views in the Caribbean. A few foreign yachtsmen however favor the Marine Bay which is on the south-western side of the island.
