This beach is located on the east coast of trinidad. It is a 1 hour drive from the capital city Port of Spain. It is a choice tourism destination for visitors and recommended for those wanting to escape the noise and frenzy of other beaches and enjoy a quiet beach experience. It is one of the best secluded beaches for long strolls, family picnics, camping activities and most commonly beach limes as the locals call it. For the tourists visiting there a few hotels nearby such as one named Coconut Cove.
This beach is also known as a hatching site for the leatherback sea turtles. Due to the amount of nests found there, the beach has caught the attention of Eco-tourists as a destination for turtle watching. Turtle watching however can be done on this beach during the months of March to September. Apart from turtle watching, it is one of the best bird watching sites and most scenic on the east coast.
Manzanilla Beach is also known for its consistent rough water and dangerous undercurrents which usually occur during high tide. Because of this sea bathers are advised to bathe within the beach markers which are usually red flags that are visibly seen on the seashore. Sea bathers are also advised to not venture too far from the shore and to pay particular attention and obey all warning signs and instructions.
This beach is lined with coconut palm trees and glistening sand, it's is also fitted with amenities such as bathroom facilities, showers and changing rooms.
The journey to this beach is well worth your time but you MUST obey all instructions and warnings if visiting there.
