This beach is located on the east-northeast coast of Trinidad and takes approximately an hour and a half from Port of Spain. Matura Beach is known to be one of the best Turtle Watching beaches and draws the largest percentages Eco-tourists that visit the country annually. Matura Beach is one of the areas where visitors must purchase a permit from the Forestry Division in order to take part in turtle watching. However a maximum of 100 visitors at a time are allowed to minimize disturbances while the turtles are laying.
There are a few tourists attractions in the area such as:
* The Rio Seco Waterfall
* Long stretches of beach front
* Diverse fauna such as the Pawi and Red Howler Monkey and also Otters.
This is just to name a few. Turtle Watching however has its season, so can only be done during the months of March to August. Toilet and waiting facilities along with bottled water are available for those visiting to do turtle watching as you can be there up to midnight.
