Description

Scotland Bay or "Down The Islands" as it is also referred to, is located on the Northwest coast of Trinidad, which is 2.3 miles northwest of Chaguaramas. This bay is a very quiet and peaceful getaway and the surroundings are more rural than urban. The bay can only accessed via boat or if you are into kayaking.

This U-shaped bay is edged by mountains with a steep cliff that provides cover from strong winds and because of this, the waters are usually relatively calm which makes it perfect for swimmers and snorkelers. The seashore however comprises mostly of pebbles and stones and not sand like most other bays.

This bay is not fitted with any public amenities, which is something to consider, if you want to take kids with you or if you plan to spend the whole day down there. The waters there though are of good snorkeling quality, so if you are a fan, i would say get your things and go check out the great underwater sites.

For those into combining the cultural experience or site visits with their beach trips, there are a few attractions on that coast. The Military History & Aerospace Museum which is located (3 1/2) three and a half miles away, Espalon Point which is also not far away as some may choose to walk or take a taxi to get there and The Chaguaramas Golf Club jus to name a few.

For the visitors who are looking for hotel accommodations, Crews Inn and Royal Palm Suite Hotel are two of the closest ones to the bay. There are also a few restaurants nearby such as Galley Restaurant, Island Restaurant & Roti Shop and Sails Restaurant just to name a few.
